Hi there! I am so glad you decided to find out a little bit more about me... so what can I say?

I have always considered myself a creative soul. As a child and teen, I was always drawing, painting, or whatever else I could find to get my hands dirty. As for photography, although I always loved it as an art form, professionally, I stumbled into it in 2003 when I signed up for a photojournalism class on a whim while studying at Boston University. I immediately knew I was hooked - I fell in love with telling people's stories with my photos, declared it as my major and graduated with a degree in photojournalism.

After working on staff at daily newspapers for several years, I decided to take my photography in a different direction. Now, I focus my work on capturing the special moments in my clients' lives - and wouldn't have it any other way.

Aside from photography, here are some of the things you should know about me:

  • I believe in giving back, and volunteer my time as a photographer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep and Help-Portrait, and I also mentor a local teen as a Big Sister through Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters.

  • I like to make my own body products - this is a weird one, I know! I am a big believer in knowing what we put in and on our bodies, and have discovered all of the amazing concoctions you can create at home, ranging from lip balms to lotions, and even handmade soaps!

  • I believe in celebrating diversity. I am incredibly proud of my Puerto Rican heritage - which means my ancestors are Native American, African and European - and I love getting to capture the unique backgrounds of my clients as well.

  • I started a photo project to highlight the amazing women in my hometown in the spring of 2019.

  • I am someone who believes in the good in people and the beauty of the human spirit.

  • I am a friend, a sister, a daughter, and, maybe most importantly, an aunt. My seven nieces and nephews range in age from three to 15-years-old, and I think my relationship with each one is unique and amazing.

  • I am conscious of the earth and our environment - I haven't eaten red meat since I was 12-years-old. As an adult, I made the switch to being vegetarian.

  • I love cooking and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and I think if I wasn’t a photographer, I would maybe have become a chef.

  • I learned to bake from my pastry chef mom when I was a kid, and now I decorate cakes for fun.

  • I am a total nerd at heart and love all things Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Stranger Things.

  • I am a true New England girl. I was born and raised here and don’t think I could live anywhere that wasn’t within 10 minutes of the beach!

So that's me - a fairly simple girl who loves to create! I hope you enjoyed finding out a little about me and I look forward to getting to know you!

XOXO, Brenda
