Groton CT Inclusive Couples Photographer | Scott + Jesse

When I had the opportunity to photograph Scott and Jesse, I had no idea the significance of the timing of their portrait session. While we were planning the details of their session, Scott revealed that they had never had professional portraits taken together, not even at their wedding. During their winter session at Bluff Point State Park in Groton, CT, I also learned they were celebrating 10 years of marriage that year.

I always enjoy getting to know my clients, and these two were no exceptions. We chatted throughout their session and I got to really see their personalities. Scott is an avid jewelry collector and wore some of his Anthony Carmargo Jewelry pieces, while Jesse, a ferry captain, seemed a bit more reserved.

It was cool late winter day by the water, but we made the best of it and enjoyed our time. I love the connection you can see between them in the images. I always aim to get traditional posed portraits but also make sure to get more natural, candid moments during every session, and was able to capture some lovely organic moments between the two of them as they walked down the shore. I also really love the shots of them holding hands - I think the details like this add to much to portrait sessions!

Bluff Point is a location that I would love to shoot more at - so many of my clients love to have their sessions at Harkness Memorial State Park that I end up missing some of the other amazing locations southeastern CT has to offer! Although it was cloudy the day I took Scott and Jesse’s portraits there, it is equally beautiful on sunny days, and has some stunning sunsets, which you get a tiny glimpse of in these portraits far off in the distance.
